Several TikTok stars including Macy Nicole, Officer Eduy, Big Phat and Keith Smith are helping the Scotland County Sheriff’s Office raise money for the Children’s Advocacy Center.

The center is a nonprofit organization that “works in conjunction with local police, child protection services, the county attorney’s office, victim advocates, and mental and medical health providers to nurture a community where children are safe and where justice for victims of sexual and physical abuse can be obtained.”

Deputies said the center plays a pivotal role in their investigations involving children.

The advocacy center is phenomenal,” said Lt. Jim Daigle with the Scotland Co. Sheriff’s Office. “They help the children in so many ways, including they’re able to do a forensic interview, and gets us the interview that we need for our case. But, at the same time able to do it in a manner that they don’t retraumatize the child.

The fundraiser involves an all-day barbeque cook-off, raffle ticket sale, live bands, food trucks, comedic entertainment and games

It takes place all day in downtown Laurinburg on Saturday with lots of food and entertainment for the community.

Deputies said every dime raised benefits the children’s program.

“The raffle tickets. Any food or sales that we make. A 100% is going to the advocacy center. At the end of this, we’d like to just cut a huge check,” said Sgt. Jay Yarborough with the Scotland County Sheriff’s Dept.

For more information on the fundraiser, you’re asked to call LT. Jim Daigle at 472-219-7751 or Captain Randy Dover at 472-219-7750.
