As we all know, poverty has a substantial impact on the children of Oklahoma. Shockingly, over nine million U.S. children live below the poverty line. In Oklahoma, poverty affects one in five children.
As someone deeply passionate about working with children, I have seen firsthand the difference between those who live in high-income families and those who do not. Unfortunately, children living in poverty often lack even the most necessities, and it breaks my heart to know that so many are struggling without the help they need.
Oklahoma’s children are still among the nation’s bottom ten in terms of important health and well-being indicators. We must act now to support these children, and it starts with our lawmakers.
I urge them to take action and make a difference in the lives of Oklahoma’s children. It is evident that more needs to be done to ensure their success. As a collective community, it is imperative that we take action to provide children in Oklahoma with the opportunities they deserve.
